The Reedy Buzzards are comfortable, experienced presenters of
a variety of hands-on workshops designed to get audience members
involved in creating music right away.
Gospel Harmony Singing
One of our fans' favorite workshops — the
band performs a gospel song in full harmony, and then Dean,
our vocal arrangement enforcement officer, deconstructs
it, part by part. The band chimes in to illustrate Dean's
points. With custom-created handouts, the Buzzards divide
the workshop members into groups that start singing chords,
then parts, in only a few minutes.
Children's Demonstration
Kids have a great time in this
high-energy workshop that shows how the various instruments in
the band are actually our “drum
kit.”
Guitar, Fiddle, Mandolin and Bass Playing
Tom, Dean, and Lisa lead out in instructional workshops for
beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. Demonstrations
include bluegrass flatpicking, gospel guitar, easy beginning
rhythm and backup playing, and rockabilly slap bass.
Arrangements: How Much to Leave Out
The Reedy
Buzzards' reputation for spare, clean, elegant arrangements is
no accident. This advanced workshop is for performers looking
for ways to hone their bands' vocal and instrumental style. The
Buzzards show how “less is more” when it comes to tightening
up a band's sound.
